Ashanti Hilliard

Ashanti Hilliard, the daughter of the Late Ray Stephen Hilliard and Beatrice Ravenell Hilliard was born October 3, 1980 in Charleston, South Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.

She was reared and educated in the public schools of Orangeburg, South Carolina. Ashanti was a graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School Class of 1998. She also attended and graduated from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in 2004 with an Associates in Health Science in Medical Laboratory Technology.

At an early age she joined Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a member of the Voices of Praise and the Ushers Ministry. She was also a member of Brother Lenny Clark & The United Voices 4 Christ Choir.

Ashanti was employed at McLeod Health Hospital in Manning, South Carolina as a Medical Laboratory Technician. She was also employed at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Select Laboratories in Manning, South Carolina, Medical University of South Carolina, and Roper St. Francis Hospital both in Charleston, South Carolina.

Ashanti will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving mother Beatrice Ravenell Hilliard of Holly Hill, South Carolina; two sisters, Ishai Oni Hilliard of Holly Hill, South Carolina and Ashley Barnes Mitchell of Inman, South Carolina; Significant other, Fred Gilliard, Jr. of Eutawville, South Carolina; two uncles, Donnie L. (Barbara) Hilliard, of Santee, South Carolina, and Nathaniel (Betty) Ravenell of Holly Hill, South Carolina; three aunts, Alafair (Jesse) Jones of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Linda Green of Wilmington, North Carolina and Carolyn Ravenell of Holly Hill, South Carolina. Two nephews Jaewon Jefferson of Holly Hill, South Carolina and Ashton Mitchell of Inman, South Carolina; two nieces JaMya Jefferson of Holly Hill, South Carolina and Aubri Mitchell of Inman, South Carolina. One great-niece JaMoni Jefferson of Holly Hill, South Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.
