Bucnell Leroy Lee was born February 28, 1946 in Cross, SC to the late Rosa Sumpter and the late Thomas Lee, Jr. He was later adopted by Mrs. Janie Lee. He was educated in the public schools of Berkeley County and graduated from Cross High School in 1965. In 1967, he married Shirley Mae Glover and together they shared 38 years of marriage. To this union 4 children were born.
Leroy was employed by Westvaco Corporation and after 20 plus years he retired. He was a “Jack of All Trades” and could fix almost anything. He was a skilled carpenter who operated his own business, constructing projects of many sizes. Doing so allowed him to employ many in the community.
He was a long-time member of Greater St. Paul United Methodist Church where he was baptized and also a member of the male choir until his health failed. In his free time, Leroy liked to do carpentry work, fish, help others, and watch the Dallas Cowboys. In addition, Leroy was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Eutawville, SC. (Eutawville Lodge # 402) and the NAACP.
Leroy was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Mae Glover, his adopted mother; Janie Lee; 1 daughter; Amanda Catreenia Pinckney; 1 grandson; Thomas James Mack, and 10 siblings.
