"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am a gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”- Matthew 11:28
Mr. Clarence “CL” Lee, 73, of Eutawville, South Carolina, passed away on September 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 9, 1952, in Eutawville, South Carolina, Clarence was the son of the late Mattie and Edward B. Lee. At an early age, he became a member of Greater St. Paul United Methodist Church. After a time away, he returned to the congregation, contributing through service whenever he could.
Clarence was educated in Orangeburg County Public Schools and graduated from Roberts High School. Shortly after, he honorably served in the United States Army. He was a smart and talented young man who loved wearing hats, fishing and talking a little trash with those he loved.
Following his military service, Clarence pursued a career as a brick mason. He mastered his craft while working alongside his brothers, uncles, and cousins. Even after retiring, he continued to take on small jobs, never shying away from putting his skills to use. His craftsmanship remains a lasting legacy; with structures he helped build still standing tall throughout the Low Country of South Carolina.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie (Middleton) and Edward B. Lee; his brothers, Ladris “Pop” Lee and Dean “Ricky” Lee; and his beloved sister, Sharon V. Lee. He leaves behind a family who will cherish his memory with love. Those left to carry on in God’s grace and mercy are his beautiful, talented, and amazing children: Tamika Taylor- Dyer (Pete) of Upper Marlboro, MD; Ellese N. Lee and Kyle K. Lee, both of Miami, FL. Clarence is also survived by his siblings: Sam Lee, Shirley (Joe) Canty, Janie Lee, Roxie (Connie) Floyd, Edward Lee, Ronnie (Shnita) Lee, Malichia Lee, and Kenya Lee. He leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives were deeply touched by his journey.
CL’s love and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. May we find strength in the love he shared and continue to carry forward the message of hope, love, and God’s promises.
