Deacon William Rivers was born on February 20, 1949, to Deacon John Rivers and Deaconess Rosa Middleton Rivers in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He left his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 26, 2024 at his residence. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
William grew up in Eutawville and was educated in the Orangeburg County School System. He graduated from Roberts High School in 1968 and then pursued the trade of brick masonry. He later met and married the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Mary Jones Rivers. Shortly after their marriage, they welcomed two daughters, Marcia and MoRonica.
A faithful servant of Christ, William accepted the Lord early in life. He became a member of the Greater Life Tabernacle Church. There, he served loyally as a Deacon for 34 years. You could always find him beating his tambourine and praising God!
A “Jack of All Trades”, William could build and fix anything. He was a brick mason, carpenter, and designer who didn’t need a blueprint. He was employed by James Lee Masonry over 30 years. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
William was predeceased by His parents Deacon John and Deaconess Rosa Middleton Rivers, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, 2 brother in laws and 3 sisters in laws.
He leaves to cherish his everlasting love and memories to: his beloved wife, Mary Jones Rivers, Eutawville, SC, two daughter, Marcia (Charles) Jones, North Charleston, and MoRonica (McKinley K.)
