Desdemona “Mona” Gibbs, the daughter of Esther Bowman Dickson and Levi Richburg was born on May 28, 1965 in Berkeley County. Mona, a beloved mother, daughter, and sister, peacefully transitioned on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at her residence in Wilson, North Carolina.
At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She became a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was a member of the Gospel Choir.
Mona received her education in the Berkeley County Schools and graduated in 1983 from Cross High School. She further her education at South Georgia Technical College. She was employed as a Home Health Aide.
Mona attended the Word of Truth International Ministries in Wilson, NC. As a devoted mother who always put the interests of her family first, she saw to it that her children were given the best she could provide, in loving care, spiritual nourishment, and material comforts. The example she lived day by day will ever be a goal for her family to strive to reach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Gibbs and sisters, Barbara Ann Bowman and Shirley Huger.
She leaves to honor and cherish her memory: her children Jordan Bowman and Jornesha Gibbs of Wilson, NC; her beloved mother Esther (Nathan) Dickson all of Cross, SC; father, Levi Richburg of North Charleston, SC. Brothers, Stanley (Shirley Mae) Bowman of Columbia, SC, Elijah Bowman and Carl Heyward of Cross, SC and a Sister - Blondell (Willie) Smith of Oglethorte, GA.; her nieces and nephews; uncles, aunts, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
