Huley Newton was born December 12,1938 in Hampton County, South Carolina to the late Lessie Newton and Lillie Wright-Newton. He was one of eight siblings. He had 3 brothers and 4 sisters, one of which was his twin. He attended school in Hampton County. Huley then moved to New York, NY where he met his wife Josephine Reed Newton and was married for 51 years. They had three beautiful girls, Shawneequa, Stacey, and Sunset who were the joys of his life. He spent every day of his life trying to put a smile on their faces. With his witty sense of humor and funny facial expression he was a joy to be around and will truly be missed by everyone.
While in New York, he picked up many skills working with his hands. He considered himself a “jack of all trades”, doing carpentry, plumbing and electric work. He attended St. Luke AME Church. He later moved to South Carolina and joined Zion United Methodist Church in Cross, SC. Throughout his life he continued to keep God first and allowed his faith to guide his life in the right direction. Of his siblings, Huley Newton was the last living. He departed his life on Sunday, December 08,2024 at his home in Holly Hill, SC. On this day, his birthday, we lay him to rest.
Sharing very fond memories of Huley, are his devoted and caring wife of 51 years, Josephine Reed Newton; Three Girls, Shawneequa Newton, Stacey Newton, and Sunset (Isiah) Newton-Denmark, all of Summerville, SC.; Eleven Grandchildren, four Great Grandchildren; A host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives, and many sympathizing friends.
