Life Story
A Time to be Born….
Jacob Elijah Middleton was born on September 11, 1951 in Cross, SC. He was the oldest child born to the late Fred Middleton and Rilla Middleton Wigfall.
A Time to Live….
At an early age, Jacob became a member of Greater St. Paul United Methodist Church in Cross, South Carolina, where he served faithfully. Jacob was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County. He graduated from Roberts High School in the Class of 1969. After completing high school, Jacob furthered his education at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College (OCTech) in Orangeburg, SC. He was in the 2nd graduating class of OCTech where he received a diploma in Welding.
Upon graduation, he was employed by General Electric (GE) in Ladson, SC for 10 years. Afterwards, he continued in his profession as a certified welder at Husqvarna Outdoor Products in Orangeburg, SC until 2002.
Jacob was married to Mary Ann Little Middleton for 15 years, and this union was blessed with five children: Shauntoya, Petronia, Tanisha, Tiheshaca and Sabastian.
Jacob lived his life to the fullest and never met a stranger. He befriended people from all walks of life. He took pride in everyone knowing Jacob “Jake” Middleton. Jake loved to TALK and entertain people. He enjoyed being a storyteller by either making you laugh or telling you about your history. He was very wise and would give advice to everyone he encountered, whether you wanted it or not. Jake made sure to let everyone know about his children and how much he loved them. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, play bingo, dance, and talk on the phone.
A Time to Pass….
On June 28, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones, God peacefully called Jacob home from labor to reward at Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC.
