Johnny Broughton, Jr.

We all have an appointment with God, though we know neither the date nor the hour. On Wednesday evening, February 21, 2024, Johnny Broughton Jr., a beloved son, brother, uncle, and nephew met his appointed time and took wings to his home in Glory.

Johnny Broughton, Jr. was born June 10, 1956 to the Late Rev. Johnnie Broughton Sr. and Martha M. Broughton. At an early age, he joined Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Eutawville SC, where he served on the Trustee Board, The Nelson Male Chorus, The Junior Usher Board, and a member of The Baptist Training Union.

Johnny graduated from Roberts High School in 1974. He attended Nielsen Electronics Institute in Charleston, S.C.  He was employed at Exxon Chemical for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, watching old western movies and cooking at Broughton’s Snack Shop. His favorite NFL football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Johnnie Broughton Sr., his brother, Sam P. Broughton, his grandparents, Carolina and Pearline Broughton and Harry and Nancy Middleton and a nephew Harry Dashawn Broughton.

Johnny will greatly be missed by his mother, Martha M. Broughton; brother Harry (Shirley) Broughton; Sisters, Carolyn B. Mitchell; Pearline (Marvin) Mosley and Chantay Broughton; fiancé, Linda Mitchell; Aunts; Lucille Lee, Marriah B. Johnson and Mary Broughton; uncle, Tommy Middleton; nieces, Tanyeka, Brittany, Shakari, Ebony (Godchild) and Iyeshia; nephews, Jonathan, Evin (Sonya), Terry Jr, and Johnnie; special cousins Earnestine, Estelle (Ronald), Demetrius, Stacey (Ann Marie), Jennifer, Eshondra (Reginald), and Ashley, other relatives and devoted friends who loved him dearly.
