Mae Bryant Obituary

Mrs. Mae Allen Bryant, 76, of Cross, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at her residence. Born on December 15, 1948, in Sheldon, South Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of Lessie Mae Mitchell and the late Ethan Allen Mitchell.

Mae graduated from Robert Smalls Sr. High School in 1967 and went on to dedicate her life to caring for others as a nursing assistant. Her long and devoted career was a testament to her compassion and unwavering commitment to service. Whether tending to patients or nurturing those around her at home, Mae’s gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She was a devoted wife to James Bryant, Sr., and a loving mother to her two sons, Micah Bryant, Sr., and James Bryant, Jr. Her love extended deeply into the next generation through her grandchildren: Micah Bryant, Jr., Jeremiah Bryant, Elijah Bryant, Natalia Bryant, Mekalia Bryant, James Bryant III, Zaria Bryant, Jazmyn, Antwan Holmes, Treio Breland, and Geovonni Breland.

Known affectionately as the family babysitter, Mae found joy in caring for children and brought warmth and comfort into every home she entered.

Mae shared a close bond with her siblings, Linda D. Jenkins of Tampa, Florida, Ethan Allen Mitchell Jr. (Ronella) of Savannah, Georgia, Gerald Norris (Hilda) of Beaufort, South Carolina, Anthony Mitchell of Sheldon, South Carolina, and Cleophus Randolph Mitchell of Sheldon, South Carolina. She also cherished lifelong friendships with Lavern Lightburd of Alaska and Betty Allen of Beaufort, South Carolina.

A woman grounded in faith and humility, Mae lived each day with honesty and grace. She delighted in shopping for loved ones and preparing meals that brought family together around the table. Her generosity knew no bounds—she gave freely from the heart without ever seeking recognition.

May the memory of Mrs. Mae Allen Bryant bring comfort to all who were blessed to know her. Her legacy of love will live on in every heart she touched.
