"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."- 2 Timothy 4:6-8
Mosses “Sportman” Taste, 76, died peacefully on August 29, 2024, at Roper St. Francis Hospital in Summerville, South Carolina.
He was born September 1, 1947, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, the son of Charlie Taste and Mary Johnson Taste.
Mosses graduated from Roberts High School School, class of 1965. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army.
He met and married Shirley Davis Taste. They were married for 37 years and together they raised six children.
Mosses was a hard worker and held several jobs. He worked for Georgia Pacific and Robert Bosch Company until he retired in 2014.
Mosses enjoyed spending time with family and friends, raking the yard, and sitting under his oak tree. Family and friends would stop by to chat with him under the tree. Mosses also loved listening to old school music, dancing, and taking pictures. He would quickly pose for a photograph.
“Sportman” always knew how to make people laugh. He was always there to offer a hug, kind word, or just be a listening ear for many. He would encourage everyone, was fun-loving, and supportive.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Richard Taste. Surviving in addition to his wife, Shirley Taste, are his children, Herman (Jackie) Davis of Cross, South Carolina, Janice Theresa Capers (Marvin) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Cornelious (Tawanna) Davis of Cross, South Carolina, Tracey Davis, of Summerville, South Carolina, Adrial M.
