Paul Jenkins

Paul Jenkins was born to the late George Washington Jenkins and Beulah Gilliard Jenkins on April 5, 1935, in Eutawville, South Carolina, and entered into eternal peace on May 25, 2026, in Brooklyn, New York.

Paul attended and graduated from the Orangeburg County Public School System in South Carolina. After graduating, Paul sought other opportunities and followed Hannah Green and others to New York City. Paul and Hannah were united in holy matrimony in November 1958 and this union received three gifts from God.

Paul’s eldest daughter from this union, Ms. Anitra Jenkins, preceded him in death. A man of faith, Paul was baptized at the Saint James Baptist Church in Eutawville, South Carolina. In Brooklyn, New York, he joined the First Baptist Church of Brownsville and later united with Brown’s Memorial Baptist Church. Throughout his faith walk, Paul served in several capacities, some of which included the Usher Board, the Deacon Board, Sunday School teacher, and mentor. To provide for his household, Paul simultaneously worked and retired from two full-time jobs while in New York City!

Paul leaves his loving and devoted wife of almost 68 years, Hannah Jenkins; three children, Dr. Kendall Jenkins, MD and Ramona Jenkins, both of Brooklyn, NY, and Marie Gibbs Washington of Elloree, SC; two brothers, Reverend Dr. Henry Jenkins of Brooklyn, NY, and Paul “Little Paul” Jenkins of Baldwin, NY; two sisters, Mamie “Alice” Lance of Rio Rancho, NM, and Makaneemah “Linda” (Sheikh) Diop of Eutawville, SC; sisters and brother-in-law, Catherine Jenkins of Jamaica, NY, Luella Turner of Southern Pines, NC, Inez Green of Bronx, NY, Harry (Leila) Green of Eutawville, SC, Betty Grant, and Shirley Sumter, both of Columbia, SC; one grandson, Julius Washington of NC; one aunt, Mattie Gilliard of Eutawville, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and former co-workers.
