Paul Lee Wright, the son of the late George A. Wright and the late Zelphine Smith Wright, was born on July 15, 1938, in Vance, South Carolina. He departed his earthly life on September 27, 2024, peacefully at his residence. Educationally, he received his early education through the public school systems of Orangeburg County.
For his elementary school, he studied at Bull School located in Vance, South Carolina. After graduating from Roberts High School, in Holly Hill, South Carolina, I n 1957, Paul relocated to NYC where he resided for many years. Later on after he retired, he returned to his native South Carolina.
“Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.”-Ephesians 12:1
At an early age, Paul received Christ and was baptized at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Eutawville, South Carolina. After relocating to New York, he affiliated himself with several churches down through the years. Upon his return to South Carolina, he reunited with Springfield and served faithfully until his health declined.
In the past, Paul was a successful entrepreneur. Over the years, he owned and operated several businesses in NYC. His latest business adventure involved his being able to purchase and operate his own Yellow Cab in New York, which he felt so proud of such an accomplishment.
Marriage is honorable in God’s eyesight. He was united in holy wedlock to Libby Davis in 1958, and to this union, two children were born, Carl Fritzgerald Wright and Wally Wright.
Needless to say, Paul was a sharp and impeccable dresser who possessed a bubbly personality that will be sorely missed and admired.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Mrs. Libby Davis Wright; two sons, Mr. Carl Fritzgerald Wright of the Bronx, New York, and Mr. Wally Wright of Orangeburg, SC; six siblings, Ms. Loraine Wright of the Bronx, New York, Mr. David Wright of the Bronx, New York, Mrs. Frances Lawyer of Eutawville, SC, Reverend Bruce (Annie) Wright of Columbia, SC, Mr. Gerald (Doris) Wright of Eutawville, SC, and Mrs. Shelia (Melvin) Washington of Eutawville, SC; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lula White of Vance, SC, and Minnie Capers of Miami, FL; in addition, he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
