Soon after, Peter received technical training as a machine operator. He was an apprentice under the late James Hezekiah Lee in brick masonry and later worked as an independent subcontractor for many years.
At an early age, Peter became a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and later joined Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ (COGIC). He served faithfully as a Deacon for many years and was appointed District Youth Department President in the South Carolina Jurisdiction.
