Robert Rivers

Robert Rivers was born on October 2, 1937, in Eutawville, South Carolina, Robert was the son of the late Deacon John Rivers and Deaconess Rosa Middleton Rivers. He was raised in Eutawville, where he became a devout Christian and a lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

In his early years, Robert married the late Celia Chisholm, and together they were blessed with four children. In 1960, Robert and Celia moved to Newark New Jersey, and joined First Timothy Baptist Church and served on the usher board for many years. He worked for CDI Dispersion as a machine operator for 44 years before retiring and returning to his hometown of Eutawville.

Robert was a dedicated family man, known for his boundless love and unwavering commitment to his loved ones. He was a man of great character and kindness, always making time for family and friends, often seen tending to his yard or offering a helping hand. To know Robert was to love him, as his warmth and generosity left his mark on everyone who crossed his path.

Robert's legacy lives on through his children: Tony (Deborah) Rivers of Irvington NJ, Yvonne Rivers and Linda Redmond of Woodbridge NJ, and the late Lamont Rivers of Newark NJ. He also leaves behind his brother John McArthur (Betty-Ann) Rivers of Holly Hill SC, sister Theresa Goodwin of Newark NJ, and sisters-in-law Annie Mae Rivers, Mary Jones Rivers, and Bernice Rivers. His grandchildren, Anthony Rivers, Lakeya Jackson, Kimberly Rivers, Tony Rose, Jamar Redmond, Kenneth Rivers, Jada Rivers, Kevin Rivers, and Jahrie Rivers, along with his great-grandchildren, Jeremy Turner, Malani Wells, Sebastian  Rose, Makenzie Rivers, and Zen Redmond. 

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Celia, son, Lamont, his parents, five brothers, three sisters and two sisters-in-law. His life was a testament to the strength of faith, the importance of family, and the enduring power of love.
