Ruffie L. Goodwin left this life to return to the open arms of her Creator on April 17, 2024. She was born January 2, 1949 in Vance SC to Isiah Bellinger Jr and Viola Simons. Ruffie attended Holly Hill Roberts High School. At an early age she joined Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Vance, SC. She married Robert Goodwin in 1966, moved to Newark, New Jersey in the late 70's with her children, and returned in 1989 to care for her grandfather. After his death, she made SC her home again.
Ruffie worked in Santee, South Carolina at the Ramada Inn for several years, but ended that career due to health issues. Ruffie enjoyed many hobbies: music, playing bingo, dancing, completing puzzles and spending time with her children, family and friends. To know her was to love her! She was preceded in death by her three sisters: Ossie Jenkins, Dorothea "Pam" Walker, Patricia Knight; her brother and sister-law Alfred ( Shelly) Jamison.
Those left to Cherish her memories are: three sons Curtis ( Nelva Severin) Goodwin of Holly Hill, Alexander Goodwin of Moore SC, John Goodwin of Holly Hill SC, three daughters: Betty Goodwin of Columbia, SC, Charlene Johnson of Vance SC and Angela (Cory) Salley of Snellville GA: two sisters. Vernell (James) Alston of Columbia SC, Rosena (Leroy) West of Orangeburg SC; brother-in law Tommie Lee Walker; seven Sister-In-Laws Joann (Sammie ) Clark of Vance SC, Mary Ann Goodwin of Vance SC, Margarite Benjamin of Vance, SC, Catherine (Johnny) Williams of Vance SC, Jessie Goodwin of Holly Hill SC, Apostle Dr. Eva Mae (Leon) Clark, Apostle Annie Allen of Santee SC, brother in law Johnny Goodwin; Three aunts Catherine Myers and Georgia Griffin, both of Holly Hill SC, Beatrice Davis of Eutawville, SC, 22 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Special Thanks to her Caregivers Chris and Brandy of Edisto Hospice Home Care of Orangeburg, SC for their tremendous support and personalized care during the moments when our family needed it the most.
