Sam Washington Obituary

 

Sam Washington was born on September 26, 1932 in Eutawville, SC. He is the son of the late Annie Washington and Henry Washington.

Sam was called to be with God on Sunday, October 19, 2024, at the Medical University of South Carolina of Orangeburg, SC. He grew up in the Eutawville community and was educated in the local schools of Orangeburg County.

Sam relocated to New York as a young man. In 1957, he married Mariah Vogt. He worked in various industries but found fulfillment in his job with a medical office in New York City. He was employed there for 30 years and retired at the age of 82.

Sam loved his friends and family and would help anyone in need. He enjoyed watching and playing baseball and football.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie Washington and Henry Washington, a sister, Reatha Washington, 2 brothers, Charles Witherspoon (Ann) and Bean Washington (Elise), and one daughter, Rosella Stinson.

Sam leaves to cherish his memories, His wife, Mariah Vogt; four children; Sam Jr., Benjamin, Lynda, and Willie; five brothers, William (Helen), Henry (Mary), George (Henrietta), Robert (Estelle), Andrew, and Omar; 3 sisters, Louise, Ernestine, and Dorothy;  two sister in laws, Ernestine McKnight and Eula Mae Baker; six grandchildren, eight  great- grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will forever be loved and missed.
