On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Sarah Bell Gibbs departed her earthly home. After a brief illness, Sarah transitioned at her residence. Sarah was born on October 31, 1931, to the late Edmund Gibbs and Elenora Wright Gibbs.
Sarah attended the Public Schools in Orangeburg County. At an early age, Sarah was baptized and joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
In 1950, Sarah moved to New Jersey. Sarah was preceded in death by her son Jerome Gibbs, her brothers Edward and Paul Gibbs, her grandson Robert Washington III and her granddaughter Chantae Gibbs.
Sarah was employed in New Jersey and worked in environmental services for 10 years before returning to South Carolina. Upon her return, she renewed her membership at St. James Missionary Baptist Church where she was a part of the Christian Aid Board. Sarah loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed watching soap operas and Lifetime.
She was quiet and humble, but could joke with the best of them.
