Sharhonda Rena Snell

Sharhonda Rena Snell was born in White Plains, New York, on October 3, 1974, to the late Bertha Lee Snell and Isaac Washington.

Sharhonda entered eternal rest at her home on March 22, 2025, after battling ovarian cancer. She faced her illness with incredible strength and grace before passing away.

Sharhonda was born and raised in New York. She attended public school in New York, with her last school being White Plains High. In 1994, she graduated from Holly Holl Roberts High School. She furthered her education at WCC and earned a degree in education.  She was employed at La Petite Academy in both NY and SC, Cloth Connection in Spring Valley, New York, and Caldor’s in Greenburg, New York. In 2016, she changed careers and was employed as a county clerk for Orangeburg County for several years. She loved the job and the people at her job, but due to her illness she had to retire early.

In 2011, she met her significant other, Tyson Nelson. She shared life with him and his three children: Tyson Nelson, Jr., Olivia Grace Nelson, and Tynisa Nelson. She also had four Godchildren: Londynn, Logan, Leyah, and Sylvester Jr.

She attended First Baptist Church of Vance and served faithfully as a church choir director and youth choir director. She was very faithful and active in the ministry, and loved what she did.

Sharhonda loved God, her family, her friends, and her job.  She was very creative, crafty, and skillful with her hands.  With all that she did, she put 100% in it, and you could see the love that was put into it. She had a heart of gold and was a beautiful soul.

Sharhonda was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Lee Snell; father, George Robinson of Henderson, NC; and a brother, Michael Washington of White Plains, NY.

She leaves to cherish her love and fond memories: her significant other, Tyson Nelson of the home; father, Isaac Washington of White Plains, NY; three sisters, Vivien Lakisha Snell (Rufus) of Wolfton, SC, Candis Snell of Sontee, SC, and Gloria Fraioli (Richard) of Concord, NC; two brothers, Darren Henry of Marietta, GA and Isaac Washington, Jr., of Las Vegas, NV; three nieces, Jasmine Irvin (Johnathan) of Concord, NC, MyKimbria Mikala B. Snell (Tommy) of Wolfton, SC, and Armani Shania White of Summerville, SC; a special cousin/sister, Geneva Williams, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
