Ms. Sheila Deloris Jenkins was born September 20, 1962, in New York to the Late Minister James and late Deaconess Elizabeth Glover Jenkins. Sheila departed this life on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.
Sheila was educated in the Public Schools of Orangeburg County and Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Roberts High School with the Class of 1980. She continued her education at Morris College in Sumter, SC where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1984.
In July of 1977, Sheila was baptized under the leadership of Reverend James S. Glover at SpringHill Baptist Church in Eutawville, SC. She participated in many church activities and was a member of the Junior Choir. After graduating from high school and college, she continued to serve the Lord at various churches in the Columbia area.
On December 15, 1993, Sheila began one of her most important roles in life giving birth to a handsome baby boy “Devin”. Devin was the love of her life. Sheila loved to dance, listen to various old school and gospel music, and was a loyal “Dallas Cowboys” fan.
Sheila was a hard-working person. She worked several jobs in the Santee and Orangeburg South Carolina areas. In 1995, she finally found a job that was in her area of her expertise. Sheila started working as a Counselor at Orangeburg County Disabilities & Special Needs Board in Orangeburg. Later, she transferred to Richland/Lexington Disabilities & Special Needs Board in Columbia as a Supervisor/Case Manager. After 28 years of service, she retired in September of 2024.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents: Minister James and Deaconess Elizabeth Glover Jenkins; grandparents, Deacon Prince and Deaconess Bessie Davis Jenkins, and Deacon Primus and Deaconess Dinah Nelson Glover.
Those left to cherish fond memories: is her son; Devin Jenkins, of Columbia, SC; siblings; Raymond (Annie Palmer) Jenkins of Holly Hill, SC, and Renee Jenkins of Columbia, SC; nieces Anitra (Joe), Tayla, Audre’ and Bria all of Elgin, SC and nephew Raymond Austin of Eutawville, SC; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
