Wilhelmena Jones

Wilhelmena Jones was born on April 01, 1959, in Vance, SC to the late Victoria Jones. She peacefully transitioned on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at her residence in Vance, SC.

Wilhelmena, affectionately known as “Pat” to everyone, graduated from Roberts High School in 1977. At an early age she showed a love for cooking. This was a trait that was passed down from her grandmother and mother to her and each of her siblings. She started her career in food service at Clark’s Restaurant in Santee, SC. She then worked for a year at Shoney’s in Santee, SC as a Cook; then at Jolly Acres Nursing Home in Orangeburg, SC for 5 years as a Dietary Aide/Cook; and lastly at Vance Providence Elementary School in Vance, SC, as a Food Service Operator. She was a beloved staff member by all the children at the school, and she treated each child that passed through the halls of Vance Providence Elementary School as if they were one of her own.  After 28 years at Vance Providence Elementary she retired from her position as Food Service Manager.

Wilhelmena was baptized at an early age at the First Baptist Church in Vance, SC, where she was a faithful member until her last days. Throughout her time at the church, she oversaw the Kitchen Committee and was a member of the Pastor’s Aid Board. She was a vibrant soul who loved everyone she met. She was a wealth of information at the church and if anyone needed to know anything, all they had to do was call “Pat”. She loved cooking, spending quality time with her family and friends, but most importantly spending time with the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her father; three brothers, Leroy Jones, Thomas Jones and James Jones; three sisters, Georgia Mae Jones, Ollia Mae (Herman Sr.) Dwight, and Ruthie Mae (Ernest) Hill; and her sister-in-law Deaconess Alice Jones.

Left to cherish her memories are two sons, Jarvis (Tiffany) Jones of Charlotte, NC, Maurice Jones of Eutawville, SC; one daughter, Stephanie Jones of Vance, SC; three brothers, Deacon Nathaniel Jones of Greensboro, NC, Jimmy (Gwendolyn) Montgomery of Santee, SC, and Kenny Montgomery of the Bronx, NY; three sisters, Mary Ruth Jones of Vance, SC, Frances (David) Drayton of Orangeburg, SC, and Marilyn Fuller of Vance, SC; one step grand-daughter Kiya Harris of Charlotte, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
